My Senior Pastor Just Doesn’t Get It
Have you ever been frustrated with your Senior/Lead/Executive Pastor? I have. It’s not uncommon for a children’s ministry leader to find themselves in a position where they feel like senior leadership just doesn’t get it.

In this chapter, Brian offers a fantastic response to being frustrated with senior leadership. The mistake he identifies: Ignoring my responsibility to develop a healthy relationship with my senior pastor.
He goes on to suggest 16 ways we can develop that relationship rather than let the frustration damage our ministry, including:
- I own my pastor’s vision
- I try to read between the lines
- I offer accountability instead of forcing my pastor to require it
- I may disagree with my pastor in private, but not in public
- I don’t make negative assumptions about his motives
