You Have ONE Shot.

One shot. You have ONE Shot to win them over. You have ONE shot with new customers in your business, guests in your church or or potential clients that you may be able to serve. ONE shot. If you are lucky or they are forgiving, maybe you have another one. Judgement comes quickly in a world with so much competition. In the church world, some will argue that a guest decides in the first 7 SECONDS out of their car whether or not they will return to that church. ONE shot.

We went the other day to the new Raising Cane’s in South Fort Worth off Hulen street. There has been much talk about how amazing their chicken fingers are and so we had to find out for ourselves. Here are my good friends and their take on the experience. Hope you enjoy the video.

For me, it was about the most average fast food experience one could imagine. The food was ok (I’m thankful I can go purchase a meal as I realize most of the people in our world will never know what that is like). Nonetheless, I don’t eat fast food much any more, particularly fried foods. I sort of just watched as my friends got the cold shoulder from several employees, tried to figure the place out and had an overall bad experience. I imagined what would happen if someone walked into where I worked and asked about the place. I thought about what would happen if I told them to go read the wall and then walked off. ONE Shot.

I tried to play the nice guy neutral role, but by the end of our talk afterwards, I was convinced that I would probably not go back there, even though it is so close to where I work. The sad part is that the six of us that went to the place probably influence thousands of people in our community between our friendships and social networks. ONE shot. I’m all about forgiveness and I’m glad God has given me more than one shot, but the reality in our world is than more often than not, people only give you one shot.

What are your thoughts? First, I’m curious if you are a fan of Raising Cane’s or Chicken Express or none of the above. What do you like about it? Second, I know our readers would love to hear your take on the importance of first impressions and excellence in the marketplace or even in the church world. Should these things be a big deal? Why or why not?
