Ex-Drug Dealer Becomes Pastor in Wales

The BBC reported a story on a former drug dealer who has become a full-time pastor at a church in a village in Wales. Brian Morris, a married father of five, was jailed for 12 years for his heroin habit and for trafficking cocaine. He began studying during his incarceration and started a prayer group within the prison. After he was released on parole, he began working part-time at Oakdale Baptist Church near Caerphilly and continued his studies in theology at Cardiff University. He’s now completed his degree and will take up a full-time ministry position next month.

Morris has also written a book titled Chased by the Dragon, Caught by the Lamb. He continues to carry his prison ID card around with him to remind him of where he began his walk with Christ. “I have come through a tumultuous time with lots of hurdles and I could have given up easily…to get voted in with my background shows people still trust me and that anyone can be forgiven. Hopefully I can bring a bit of good through my story.”
