Pentecostal minister Juanita Bynum recently caused a stir among her Facebook friends and visitors and the media by typing a prayer in tongues on her Facebook page. Bynum is called “a New York Times Best Selling Author, Gold Recording Artist, Awarded Actress and Television Host, as well as a record breaking Conference Host” in her biography on her website. She also has created a line of skin care products and clothing and has launched a publishing company an a weekly service called The Wearhouse, called a “vibrant, innovative prophetic ministry located in the heart of Atlanta.”
Many posts accompanying the tongues prayer and the resulting media stories wondered whether or not it is biblical or even possible to type in tongues; others requested a response and translation from Bynum, who has yet to comment on the uproar. The Christian Post attempted to contact Bynum, but she has given no response.
