Tennessee Mom Could Face Jail Time for Baptizing Her Kids

According to The New York Daily News, a mother in Tennessee who baptized her two children without her ex-husband’s consent now faces a possible fine and jail time for contempt of court. The mother, Lauren Jarrell of Shelby County, must attend a hearing to determine if she violated a court order requiring that all religious decisions regarding the children must be made with her ex-husband. The father of the children apparently feels they should be baptized when they’re older. Jarrell could spend 20 days in jail and be fined if she is convicted.
