An Ohio megachurch will give away one dollar per person who attends select worship services in person or online.

According to The Christian Post, a megachurch in Ohio has committed to donating one dollar to charity for each person who attends select worship services online or in person. Lee Powell, senior pastor at CedarCreek Church based in Perrysburg, said he got the idea from another pastor, and he implemented the program because he feels that attendance at church matters, that each person “matters to God.”

Powell said they gave away nearly $21,000 this week based on attendance for Easter weekend. “Bottom line is we just wanted to be a light to the community.” He hopes to make the program a weekly occurrence by next year. Charities benefiting from this program include the Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Cherry Street Mission ministry.
