According to a new Gallup poll, 50 percent of all Americans support legal same-sex marriage with the same rights as traditional marriages. This represents a slight decrease from last year when 53 percent of Americans said the same, but it’s the second time in Gallup poll history that at least half of Americans showed support for legal gay marriage. Almost two-thirds of Democrats support legalizing it, while 57 percent of independents and 22 percent of Republicans agree.
Vice President Joe Biden commented this past weekend that he was “absolutely comfortable” with the idea of gay marriage having the same rights as traditional marriages. President Obama has not yet said he favors gay marriage but that his opinion on the subject is “evolving.”
