Andy Griffith's Widow Takes Comfort in Her Faith

The widow of actor/singer Andy Griffith says she takes great comfort in the fact that her husband was a man of “incredibly strong Christian faith.” Although Cindy Knight Griffith said in a statement that her husband was “the love of her life” and she wasn’t sure how she would live without him, she said he was prepared for the day he would be called home.

The Griffith family has received many condolences from actors, performers, producers and directors since Griffith died at his North Carolina home Tuesday at the age of 86. Perhaps the most memorable came from President Barack Obama, who called Griffith an “extraordinary talent” and “beloved by generation of fans.” Ron Howard, who played Opie in the now-classic TV series The Andy Griffith Show and has since become an acclaimed producer/director, called Griffith a “natural leader who loved to laugh” in an interview with MSNBC; he hoped Griffith would also be remembered for his participation in the TV show Matlock and his Grammy-award winning gospel music career.
