"The Purpose Driven Life" Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

According to Charisma News, the best-selling hardback non-fiction book in history is getting revamped and reissued for a new generation. Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life is being reprepared for those who were too young to read it the first time but now have a new set of trials and barriers to fully embracing God’s purpose. The new edition of the book will feature two new chapters on envy (“I must be like you to be happy”) and people-pleasing (“I must be liked by you to be happy”), lengthening the incorporated bible study to six weeks. Web links to audio and video messages by Warren for each chapter will also be included in the new edition.

“Though its been 10 years since The Purpose Driven Life first released, individuals are still searching for purpose in life, though it is sometimes referred to by different terminology,” said Warren. “Our world has changed dramatically over the past decade, but God’s word is always relevant. I believe now more than ever, people need the hope, joy and peace that comes from living out their God-given purpose.”

The Purpose Driven Life has sold more than 32 million copies in the past ten years and has been translated into 50 languages. When released in 2002, it simultaneously went to number one on the four major best-seller lists. Following the success of the book, more than 30,000 churches have participated in the accompanying “40 Days of Purpose” study and campaign. Warren also began the Purpose Driven Network of churches, now in 162 countries.  Warren himself donated much of the proceeds from the book to three different Acts of Mercy foundations and paid back his 22-year salary to Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, which he founded in 1980.
