"The Bible" Miniseries Promoted at Joel Osteen's Church

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey visited Lakewood Church in Houston last Sunday to help promote their upcoming epic miniseries, The Bible, airing on The History Channel starting March 3. Burnett and Downey are friends with the Osteens, who visited them on the set in Morocco during filming.

The Christian Post reported that clips from the miniseries were shown during the service. Burnett and Downey also gave the Osteens a 1683 King James Bible.

The highly anticipated 10-hour miniseries will air through Easter Sunday and will retell Scripture from Noah to the resurrection of Christ.

Burnett is best known for producing award-winning reality shows like Survivor, The Voice, and The Apprentice. The couple came up with the idea for the series based on their lifelong love of Scripture and inspiration from other biblical epics of the past. Burnett said in an interview in October that he hoped the miniseries would make a “meaningful contribution.”

“I have had great fear, but my fear isn’t of the failure of the project. It’s looking back later having done nothing. It’s a very serious fear. The fear of not making a meaningful contribution, of being insignificant, of looking back [and thinking] that I didn’t step up. I am honestly petrified of that, or I was, and my pain of feeling like I let myself down, my family down, and not taking the risk to do it was far greater than the pleasure of being calm,” said Burnett.
