Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey hope the app will encourage viewers of the miniseries to read the Word.
Producers of the miniseries The Bible, a 10-hour docudrama to premiere on The History Channel March 3, have announced the upcoming release of a companion Bible app which will be hosted by YouVersion. Mark Burnett and Roma Downey hope the app will encourage viewers of the miniseries to read the Word.
“Our prayer has always been that the dramatization of these stories will drive viewers to go to the Bible itself and drink in the actual text, because it is a book that changes lives,” said Downey. “We are thrilled to provide millions of people with an easy way to do so with YouVersion.”
Burnett, veteran producer of Survivor, The Apprentice, and The Voice, predicts great things for the upcoming epic miniseries, The Bible, which will air through Easter Sunday. Burnett has said that “more people will see this Bible series over the next 25 years than all those other series combined.”
“That is written. That’s not a prediction, that’s a fact,” said Burnett. “More people are going to see this Bible series, because the globe is ready for this.”
YouVersion creator Bobby Gruenewald said the miniseries is “brilliant and engaging” and “the greatest visualization of the Bible we’ve ever seen.”
“I believe it will help millions of people engage with the Bible,” Gruenewald said.
