Tim Tebow Tweets Proverbs 3:5-6 in Response to Jets Release

Tim Tebow, 25-year-old NFL quarterback famous for his public displays of faith on and off the field, tweeted Proverbs 3:5-6, a passage about trusting God, in response to his release this week from the New York Jets. According to The Christian Post, Tebow had only made a few appearances on the field since joining the Jets in March 2012.

Tebow told ESPN this week that he was pleased with his experience with the Jets. “There’s a lot that I learned and there are a lot of relationships that I’ve built, so I know that it happened for a reason.”

Jets coach Rex Ryan said in a statement that the staff has “a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow” and called him “an extremely hard worker,” but “unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped.” The New York Post reported that the drafting of Geno Smith prompted Tebow’s release, according to Jets GM John Idzik.

Fans have given Tebow a lot of support on social media since the announcement of his release. Yahoo! News gave its opinions and predicted six opportunities for Tebow’s placement, including signing with the Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
