New Dinesh D'Souza Film Tells the "True Story of America"

Author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza will release a new film to follow up his popular political documentary 2016: Obama’s America, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new film, titled America, is produced by Oscar-winner Gerald Molen and will address criticism from the left challenging the nation’s history on war, immigration, equality, capitalism and other topics.

D’Souza said the film, which is to open July 2, should appeal to Christian audiences, as did his last release. “Contrary to what her enemies try to say about her, America has been a force for good in the world since its creation. I look forward to working with the faith community to get the true story about America out,” said D’Souza.

Filmmakers have commissioned a sermon based on the film and will engage audiences on SermonCentral.com and FaithIt.com to provide pastors with video clips from the movie and resources for services. Sermon author Phil Hopersberger commented that using film to convey spiritual truth is not unlike what Jesus did in His ministry.

“If there was film 2000 years ago, I’m sure Jesus would have used it, too,” Hopersberger added.
