How Do I Overcome Fear in Sharing the Gospel?

Nearly everyone I have asked the question below over the years to has responded with the same answer.  What is the question you ask?

The question is…
“What is the number one reason you do not share the Gospel (life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ) with your unbelieving friends, relatives or acquaintances?”

The answer is…
“Fear.”

Fear of failure.
Fear I will not know what to say.
Fear of what they will think.
Fear of what they might do.
Fear of loosing a relationship.
Fear of sharing “too quickly.”
Fear they will ask a question.
Fear of…
Fear of…
Fear of…

So, believer in Jesus Christ, let me remind you of a few important promises to inspire you to share the greatest news the world has or will ever know (AND OVERCOME YOUR FEARS).

How do we overcome fear?

Remember God’s Power

Romans 1:16 “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”

THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD IN ACTION TO SAVE PEOPLE!

Remember God’s Presence

Matthew 28:20 “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

GOD IS WITH YOU ALL THE TIME!

Remember God’s Pleasure

Hebrews 10:38 “But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with Him.”

GOD IS PLEASED IF YOU SHARE!

Remember God’s Protection

Hebrews 1:13,14  “To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?  Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

GOD ALWAYS PROTECTS YOU!

Remember God’s Provision

Mark 13:11 “Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”

GOD WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY AND DO!

Remember God’s Proof

Romans 3:24,25  “And are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.”

GOD DID IT!  JUST SHARE IT!

Remember God’s Purpose

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

GOD WANTS ALL TO BE SAVED!

*Note: Not everyone will be saved (that is universalism), but the heart of God is for everyone to receive Jesus Christ as Savior because he loves the whole world (John 3:16).  But, we must receive the grace of God by faith which is still a free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Remember God’s Punch

Colossians 1:27 “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

GOD LIVES INSIDE YOU THROUGH HIS HOLY SPIRIT!

The God of the Universe is on your side!
